Anti-Bullying Policy

At Gayatri School, we are committed to ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for every student. Bullying of any kind, physical, verbal, social, or cyber, will not be tolerated. This policy aligns with the recommendations of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasize student safety and mental well-being.

1. Policy Objectives

  • To prevent all forms of bullying within and beyond the school premises.
  • To provide a clear framework for identifying, reporting, and addressing bullying incidents.
  • To ensure that victims receive support and perpetrators are held accountable with corrective measures.

2. Definition of Bullying

Bullying is any intentional and repetitive behavior that causes physical, emotional, or psychological harm.
It may include:

  • Physical: Hitting, pushing, damaging property
  • Verbal: Name-calling, insults, threats
  • Social: Exclusion, spreading rumors
  • Cyber: Online harassment, abusive messages, social media abuse

3. Scope of Policy

  • Applies to all students, staff, and visitors within school premises, during school transport, and at school-related events.
  • Covers incidents online and offline.
  • Extends to bullying between students outside school if it affects school life.

4. Preventive Measures

  • Awareness programs for students, parents, and teachers.
  • Workshops on empathy, conflict resolution, and digital safety.
  • Regular monitoring of classrooms, corridors, and online platforms.
  • Establishment of an Anti-Bullying Committee comprising teachers, counselors, and student representatives as per norms.

5. Roles & Responsibilities

5.1 Students

    • Report bullying immediately to teachers or the Anti-Bullying Committee.
    • Support peers who may be victims.

5.2 Teachers

    • Maintain a watchful eye on student interactions.
    • Record and report bullying incidents promptly.

5.3 Parents

    • Encourage open communication with children.

  2. Investigation by the Anti-Bullying Committee within 3 working days.
  3. Counseling & Support for the victim.
  4. Corrective Actions (warnings, parental meetings, behavioral interventions, suspension if required).
  5. Follow-up to ensure the bullying does not recur.

7. Disciplinary Actions

  • Mild offenses: Verbal warning, counseling.
  • Moderate offenses: Written warning, parental meeting, detention.
  • Severe offenses: Suspension, expulsion, and/or reporting to authorities as per directives.

8. Support for Victims

  • Counseling sessions to restore emotional well-being.
  • Peer support programs to reintegrate affected students.
  • Continuous monitoring to prevent repeat incidents.

9. Cyberbullying Policy Extension

  • Students must follow the school’s Digital Usage / IT Policy.
  • Any form of online harassment will be addressed with the same seriousness as in-person bullying.
  • Digital forensics may be used in serious cases to identify offenders.

  • This policy is mandated for display on the school website and premises.
  • The Anti-Bullying Committee reviews the policy annually.
  • Updates are shared with students, staff, and parents.
